This month, our calendar honours National Day, with the Kupar of His Majesty King Ugyen Wangchuck, the First Druk Gyalpo.
17th December marks the day on which the historic Genja was signed in the year 1907, proclaiming Ugyen Wangchuck as the first Hereditary King of Bhutan. In the span of over a century, Bhutan has seen the Reign of Successive Dharma Kings, under whose guidance and direction we continue to look forward with strength, courage, and unwavering hope.
Our National Day is a celebration of the spirit of being Bhutanese- a resilient people led by visionary Monarchs, determined to forge our own path ahead, to adapt and flourish in an ever-changing world.
