The calendar for the month of May features an artwork of His Majesty The King and His Holiness the Je Khenpo, in honour of His Holiness’ 25th Anniversary as the 70th Je Khenpo of Bhutan.
His Holiness became Je Khenpo at the age of 41, and received the མངའ་བདག་དཔལ་གྱི་འཁོར་ལོ (Order of the Druk Gyalpo), from His Majesty The King in 2018, in recognition of services to the nation.
On conferring the award, His Majesty The King said:
“The Order of Druk Gyalpo is the highest recognition in the Kingdom of Bhutan. On this most auspicious of days, I confer the award, as an expression of gratitude from all the people of Bhutan- to His Holiness the Je Khenpo, Trulku Jigme Choeda. His Holiness has a distinguished place in our history. The breadth of his achievements in service of the country and people are beyond words.”
His Holiness leads the Zhung Dratshang in conducting sacred prayers for the wellbeing of the country, including the Sangay Menlha prayers for the benefit of all sentient beings during this global pandemic.
