Desktop Calendar for July 2018

Summer is a busy time in rural Bhutan- the picturesque paddy fields are ready for transplantation. In villages like Gaselo, in Wangduephodrang, the paddy fields are carved out in terraces carefully on the hillsides, to hold the water required for growing rice. Farm work remains largely manual and requires hard work. During the transplanting season, villages often pool resources in order to help each other complete the work, and the laborious days turn festive, as the community works and eats together– an integral part of village life in Bhutan. In a traditional society underpinned by community values, it is customary to offer help whenever there is work to be done, and such help is always welcomed and accepted graciously.

During the recent Royal Visit to Gaselo, His Majesty and His Royal Highness joined the village in their paddy field where new saplings are being transplanted.

Click on the size you want. The calendar will open in your web browser. To set it as your desktop wallpaper, right-click the picture, and choose “Set as Wallpaper” or “Set as Desktop Background” or “Use Image as Desktop Picture”.
